Samsung developing new "XISOCELL" image sensors.
- Specifications for the Samsung XISOCELL have not been made public.
- Since 2014, the business has used ISOCELL-branded sensors.
- In recent years, Samsung has added the ISOCELL Plus and ISOCEll 2.0 ranges.
According to reports, Samsung has submitted a trademark application in South Korea for the brand name 'XISO-CELL,' which may refer to the company's upcoming next-generation of smartphone camera sensors. A class of photo sensors called ISOCELL that the business has long been producing first appeared on the Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014.
Later, Samsung added camera sensors from the ISOCELL Plus and ISOCELL 2.0 series to their most recent models. According to the most recent information on the South Korean conglomerate's trademark registration application, XISOCELL will be the brand name for its upcoming line of image sensors.
Additionally, it has been reported that Samsung is developing sensor-shift image stabilisation technology similar to the one seen in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone manufacturer in Cupertino, California, asserts that the method can stabilise an image at a rate of more than 5,000 times per second.
However, it is still unclear whether the alleged XISOCELL image sensors of the next generation and the alleged sensor-shift image stabilisation technology will be present on Samsung's upcoming S23 flagship series.
There have been rumours that the next Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from the Galaxy S23 series will have a 200-megapixel picture sensor. Aside from the brand name, the report offers no additional information regarding the XISOCELL-branded next generation of image sensors.
Additionally, it has been reported that Samsung is developing sensor-shift image stabilisation technology that is comparable to the one found in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. With this move, we may anticipate Samsung flagship devices to produce photos on par with those from an iPhone. Apple claims that any image can be stabilised by up to 5000 times per second using sensor-shift technology.
It is yet unclear whether the next Samsung Galaxy S23 series will have sensor-shift image stabilisation technology and the next-generation XISOCELL image sensors. However, it is already known that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from the same series will include a 200MP primary camera.
